For many moms, life can sometimes feel like a “one female circus,” as it is a steady juggling act of balancing everything. That’s why it’s so easy to ignore self-care with everyday life’s demands. Mostly because some feel obliged to take care of everything else while placing their own needs on the back burner, while others may see self-care as an act of selfishness.

Self-care is essential to our state of mind and health. By helping us to discover a balance, re-ignite a zest for life, de-stress, and give us a feeling of empowerment, it enables us to become a stronger version of ourselves. To achieve this does not necessarily mean basking on a beach under the warm sun in Turks and Caicos or melting away your stresses in a luxurious spa. Self-care practice can be easy as painting your nails, adhering to a skincare regimen, or reading a book.

Comvita’s DIY Manuka Honey Face Mask

Items + Ingredients

❏ 2 teaspoons Manuka honey
❏ ½ teaspoon organic lemon juice
❏ 1 teaspoon aloe vera (optional)
❏ Mixing bowl
❏ Spoon
❏ Washcloth
❏ Cooking pot

Directions

❏ Place a pot of water on the stove and heat until water begins to boil.

❏ Stand over the pot (at a safe distance) and allow the steam to open the pores for 1-2 minutes.

❏ Mix the honey and lemon juice into the mixing bowl and stir well. For sensitive skin types, aloe vera gel can be used in place of lemon juice.

❏ Gently dab the honey-lemon mix over the face, being careful to avoid contact with the eyes.

❏ Let the mask sit for 15-20 minutes.

❏ Remove the mask using a warm washcloth, then splash some cold water over the face to close the pores.

Without a doubt, when we take care of ourselves, mentally and physically, we feel empowered to tackle the day ahead of us.
