Samsung has a superb reputation for technology. It didn’t surprise me in the least when they unveiled the comprehensive, yet affordable virtual reality headset to the masses: the Samsung Gear VR. You can wander in surreal and serene games like Land’s End and solve puzzles, blast into the middle of an epic space battle in EVE: Gunjack, trek through a prehistoric forest in Jurassic World Apatosaurus, or socialize with friends. The lightweight design and picture quality are unrivaled.
As it doesn’t get any better, it’s even compatible with Netflix! It’s like having your own private cinema. Additionally, you can customize trailers, clips, and your own movie files by using the Oculus Video app. Customize your virtual environment — choose from a home theater, big-screen cinema, or even the surface of the moon. I also love that it has features like the Gear Indie Channel, giving the wearer access to unique experiences through the eyes of indie filmmakers, whether it’s living it up in Ibiza to lapping the Le Mans track.
The Samsung Gear VR is truly incredible in every sense of the word. It would make the perfect Father’s Day gift! It is true that some things in life, such as the Samsung Gear VR, defy all explanation and must be experienced to be believed. I have yet to experience the Samsung Gear VR in person, but it’s on my to-do list!
