I recently watched Just One More this past weekend, and this film has stayed on my mind more than I expected. The movie tells the story of Jess, a recovering addict who is carrying a lot of shame, doubt, and emotional pain. Jess crosses paths with Charles, a dying man who is praying that God will use him just one more time. From there, the movie becomes less about addiction and more about grace, second chances, forgiveness, and the fight to believe that your future can still be different from your past.
What I appreciated most about the movie was how honest it felt. Jess is not shown as someone who has everything figured out. She struggles, questions herself, and has moments when she feels unworthy of love or hope. Recovery is not usually a straight path, and the movie does a good job of showing how heavy shame can be for someone trying to heal. I have known people to go through similar situations. Therefore, this movie hit close to home because it reminded me how important compassion and support can be.

Charles was also a meaningful character. Even though Charles is facing the end of his life, he is still asking God to use him. That part of the story was encouraging since it showed that purpose does not disappear just because life is hard or uncertain. His faith was quiet yet powerful in a way that did not feel forced. He helped bring warmth to the story, and his connection with Jess gave the movie a lot of heart.
The message of Just One More is inspiring without feeling overly polished. It reminds viewers that people are more than their worst decisions. Addiction can make someone feel trapped, but this movie shows that healing is possible when faith and forgiveness are present. Jess’s journey is emotional. There are moments that may be difficult to watch, especially for anyone who has seen addiction affect someone they care about.
I thought Just One More was a touching and thoughtful film. It is the kind of movie that makes you reflect on how you treat people who are struggling. It also reminds you that hope can show up in unexpected places. Currently streaming on Angel, I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys faith-based dramas that are encouraging and inspiring.
