In the past couple of months, I have discussed about how statistics indicate that more than 50% pets are overweight and some of the ways we can establish a healthy routine for our own pets. Five extra pounds on a small dog is the equivalent of over 30 extra pounds on a human. Feeding your cat one potato chip is the equivalent of a human eating an entire chocolate bar or half of a hamburger. Giving a Dachshund an ounce of cheddar cheese is the equivalent of a human eating not one, but two and a half hamburgers! These are all startling facts to take into consideration. That is why it is crucial for us to take their health with the utmost care, compassion, and consideration since our pets are essentially part of us.
Losing weight can be challenging for pets much as it can be for us, thus managing their weight early on can help them avoid a host of diseases and ailments. If your pet is overweight or obese, the Hill’s Science Diet Adult Perfect Weight Formulas will help them achieve and maintain the perfect weight while improving their quality of life! Hill’s® Science Diet® Adult Perfect Weight Small & Toy Breed (available in bag sizes 4lbs and 15lbs), their newest product, is specifically for dogs that weigh 25 lbs and less. It is 100% precisely balanced nutrition and contains prebiotic fibers for gentle digestion. It’s available at your local vet or pet specialty store. It can also be purchased via Pet360.
In addition, Hill’s® Science Diet® introduced the Perfect Weight 10 Week Turnaround Challenge to help pets achieve their ideal weight. I didn’t participate since my Maltese, Bali, (shown in the pictures) is at his ideal weight. However, I did enjoy reading the success stories from pet owners who did participate, such as Posh on a Budget‘s dog, Hazel, whom went from 28 lbs. to 24 lbs. within 10 weeks. That may not sound significant to some, but that’s actually the equivalent of someone like you or me shedding 18 lbs.!
Help your pet battle the bulge! Between now and July 5th, enter now to have have a chance to win the bi-weekly prizes of a 10-week supply of Science Diet Perfect Weight for your dog or cat. The full terms and conditions can be found on the entry form.

Good for Hazel for doing so well on her diet. She sure is a little cutie pie. I love that this food works so well.
I love to read about weight loss success stories and am so glad that cutie pie Hazel is on her way to better health. I know her owner is thrilled, too. You gave some amazing stats and I’m happy to say that my Max is at his perfect weight and we don’t feed him people food at all.

Glad to read the weight loss is working. I have heard of Science Diet but never tried it with my dogs. Do you know if they have one to gain weight too?
Science Diet really sounds like the way to go when it comes to pet food. I’d be so happy to see my pets becoming healthier so quickly.

Having a pug makes weight loss tough, they are naturally pretty husky dogs and they pack on weight fast! This would be perfect for my little doggy, she could lose a couple pounds.
I’m a big animal lover, it’s great that there are things out there like this these days to keep your pets healthy!
I have an English Bulldog puppy who will eat until he passes out if we let him. It is a fear of mine that he becomes overweight so we watch his portions very carefully.

This looks like it would be the perfect dog food for my sisters dog. She has a 11 year old Shi-tzu that is a little chunky. I will have to share this post with her.
We had a dog a number of years ago and she was a bit overweight. that was due to our too busy scheudles and we were not ever able to walk her.
This sounds like an amazing challenge for dogs indeed. I love the Hazels story which was so inspiring to other dog owners whom have other dogs with a weigh issue. Your dog is so adorable. Thanks for sharing.
Hazel is adorable! I love Science Diet, such a great brand!! Definitely one to be trusted. All of my dogs are where they should be with weight which I’m very thankful for but if they ever needed a change, I’d for sure go with Science Diet!
Both of my dogs are their ideal weight, however, my sister in law’s dog. Man. I was just over there the other night and she’s older and too heavy. They’ve put her on a diet so I’m hoping she loses the weight quickly. You could hear her breathing really loud as she waddled up the steps. Sweet girl.

The campaign for Science Diet is awesome and it has really got me intrigued! I have a beautiful calico but she has definitely gained a lot of weight so I am considering this time of food regimen for her. Thanks for sharing!

awww….Hazel looks like such a little thing and a cutie – it’s wonderful that you’re bringing awareness of this and ways to help our pets – I’ve never had an overweight dog or cat – but I know Science Diet is a great product even when they’re not overweight 🙂

We just got a puppy last year. He’ll be a year old in a few months so we haven’t had to deal with weight issues yet, but glad to know Science Diet has a solution whenever the time comes we need it.

I had no idea they made diet food for dogs! I’ll pass this onto my friends with pets!
Wow, those are pretty scary statistics and facts! I don’t have any pets but this product sounds really good to help get them back on the right track.
Hazel is a beautiful dog, I love her pure white coat. This brand sounds great for getting dogs back to their ideal weight.
We currently have four dogs and just one of them is an over-eater. We can leave food out all day long for the other three, but for our pudgy one we have to carefully measure it and feed him alone twice a day. I’ve used Hill’s before for an overweight pug we used to have.
we had an oversized cat & we switched her over to Science Diet last year. She is a totally different cat now. Can jump and run and everything now that the extra weight is gone!
Our Daisy needs to lose weight. We’ll have to try this!

Whoa I didn’t know about the comparison of the weight of food on pet animals vs humans. This really explains why owners have to take note of what they food to pets.
Thank you because I’ve learned something very important regarding our pets diet. This looks like a great product for pets!
Your dog is so adorable! My stepdaughter mentioned yesterday about how fat her dog is. Now I wonder if she is thinking of putting her on diet.

Awww. My mom’s schnauzer was overweight for years. She finally lost all of her weight when they moved to a house with a bigger lawn. I never thought of telling my mom to give her different food! (Though, I do think the schnauzer got her fair share of table food ;D) Thanks for sharing!
