Disclosure: I received a two night/three day getaway plus complete access to the waterpark and all the resort amenities.
I hadn’t visited Branson, Missouri since I was a child, yet I fondly remembered it being a small, yet lively town in the heart of the Ozark Mountains. It has tremendously boomed since my last visit. It’s almost like a miniature Nashville, seemingly boasting country acts and attractions around every corner. It can almost be an overwhelming, even panic-inducing experience, especially for the casual traveler that doesn’t have an itinerary in mind. Although I like having an idea of what adventure awaits for me, yet on the same note, spontaneity runs through my veins. Something about not having a destination in mind is always intriguing and in most cases turns out to be the best source of entertainment.
During my recent visit to Branson with my husband and daughter (my son stayed with his grandmother since he had school during the week), we stayed in the King Tower Room at the Castle Rock Resort and Waterpark. This waterpark and resort is located in the heart of Branson, Missouri and surrounded by myriads of attractions. Nearby attractions include Hollywood Wax Museum, Branson’s Wild World, Pirates Cove Adventure Golf, Titanic Museum, Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Museum, Ride the Ducks, and much more! Notable on its own merits, this resort and waterpark boasts a 30,000 square foot indoor waterpark, 10,000 square foot outdoor waterpark, Tower Grill, an on-site restaurant; day spa & salon, 24-hour arcade, and gift shop.
Their waterpark features 150,000 gallons of splashtacular fun with two 500 gallon dumping buckets, multiple indoor and outdoor kiddie pools with rain showers and waterfalls and more! Their indoor waterpark features a lap pool and an activity pool where you can basketball. They also have 2 large three-story thrill slides, a lazy river where you can kick back and ease your mind, play on themed water slides, or relax on the multilevel sun deck.
Castle Rock Resort and Waterpark boasts 98 tower rooms connected to the waterpark through interior corridors and 102 exterior entrance rooms in the two Atrium buildings located approximately 50 yards from the waterpark. Each tower room has a built in Kiddie Cove (6′ x 4′) with a bunk bed and 19” flat screen TV. Their tower room accommodations boast 2 double beds or 1 king bed, 32” flat screen TV, mini fridge, coffee maker, iron, ironing board, and hairdryer. Their newly refurbished Atrium rooms boast 2 queen beds, or 1 king bed, a 32” flat screen TV, coffee maker, iron, ironing board, and hairdryer.
Check-in went effortlessly smoothly. Unlike the last waterpark and resort that we stayed at, it didn’t take us 30 minutes to get our room. They didn’t ask for our license plate number, which I thought was peculiar to ask for at the last waterpark and resort. Even though at the other place, we were also supplied with wristbands that granted us access to the waterpark. At this resort, it didn’t double as key like the other one did, which got tedious at times since it didn’t always work. Instead, they supplied us with a card swipe. All of the necessary information that was needed to check was a glance at my ID.
The King Tower Room that we stayed in was warm, inviting, and thoroughly clean. It included a comfortable king size that I could practically sleep for days in, a kiddie cove, featuring a bunk bed and television in the upper corner; a mini Frigidaire refrigerator, a 32” flat screen television, coffee maker with complimentary coffee samples, hairdryer, and complimentary travel-sized bath products. The only downside was the Wi-Fi was non-existent (it was only attainable in the lobby), but they told us they have been in the midst of remedying this issue.
After hours being on the road and in a car seat, my daughter was ready to play!
Although their gift shop mostly consisted of swim essentials (i.e. swimwear, goggles, and beach balls), tees, sunglasses, hats, and flip flops, I was pleasantly surprised that their items were fairly priced. Since my son wasn’t able to embark on this traveling experience because of school, I bought him a black and white guitar magnet/bottle opener. I knew that he would love this since he has a knack for playing with my magnets that are adorned on the fridge!
Since the Wi-Fi connection was non-existent in our room, I had to come down to the lobby a few times to get on the internet on my laptop. The atmosphere was cozy, relaxing, and quiet.
Breakfast isn’t complimentary with your stay, but their on-site restaurant, Tower Grill, serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily. Although we didn’t have a chance to eat at their restaurant, their menu is reasonably priced. A sampling of their menu includes fried pickles, hot wings, mushroom swiss burger, catfish nuggets, mini tacos, breadsticks, and grilled chicken Caesar salad.
