The holiday season is in full swing. This means that festivities are underway and people are either clamoring for last minute gifts or adding the finishing touches on their decorations. Some are also making arrangements to travel to be with family and friends during the holidays. Their travel plans could be to another state, country, or simply in the same or nearby town.
Touted as the season for love, joyfulness, and goodwill; the holidays have a variety of stressors. This includes people who have something else on their agenda that doesn’t involve generosity and cheer. This is why I’m relieved to have LifeLock, especially if I’m going to be out of town, because they will help protect me from being a victim of identity theft.
Here a few ways you can help protect yourself from identity theft:
• Don’t use public Wi-Fi to shop online or check your banking account, especially when you’re at an airport terminal or hotel lounge.
• Turn your bluetooth off, because hackers can easily scan to see who has a bluetooth on, making it easy for them to access the information on your phone.
• Use a privacy screen protector for your smartphone or laptop. This will help deter identity thieves from reading your screen.
• Install a trustworthy cell phone tracker app on your smartphone. If your phone gets stolen, you can easily track the location of your stolen cell phone.
