My second grader is a voracious learner that has an insatiable thirst for knowledge. He is always wanting me to buy different workbooks. I knew that he would love the Hot Dots Let’s Master 2nd Grade Math ($24.99 at Educational Insights) since math is his favorite subject at the moment.
The Hot Dots Let’s Master 2nd Grade Math is an entertaining and interactive set that includes two books and a Hot Dots® pen (requires 2 AAA batteries, which isn’t included). There are 100 lesson plans, such as time, place value, measuring, algebra, shapes/geometry, fractions, and counting money.
Unlike traditional workbooks, writing in these books with an actual pen, pencil, or marker isn’t necessary. Instead, you use the interactive “pen” to select the answers, and it will let you know if you selected the correct answer or not. I believe that this concept is ingenious and innovative. Also, I can easily pass down this book to my daughter when she is of school age since the book will not have any type of markings or answers like a typical workbook.
Educational Insights also offers the Hot Dots Math for other grades: Pre-K, 1st, and 3rd.
