No other fairy tale maiden captures the essence of winter than Cinderella! Her sense of style is simple, pure, and elegant with a hint of sparkle that is akin to the first day of snow. That is why her look is suitable for an elegant fête for New Year’s Eve – minus the ball gown!
The Dress
Cinderella probably wouldn’t have been the belle of the ball or eventually be whisking off to a happily ever after with the prince if it wasn’t for the dress. In fact, it was the pinnacle of her attire that garnered the attention of the prince. A powdery blue ball gown may sound like the most obvious choice for Cinderella-esque attire, but it may not be the wisest choice for a New Year’s Eve party! Opt for a powdery blue cocktail dress that is reminiscent of her ball gown. It is just as chic and elegant!
Semi-casual dresses like the Topshop Crochet Collar Lace Dress with the mini Peter Pan collar are inherently sweet and covetable. It’s the same dress that Lana Del Rey wore at the Latitude Festival in 2012. This dress and other dresses like it can be dressed up with the right accessories, especially shoes (hint hint)!
Cocktail dresses like this beautiful baby blue cocktail dress by Adrianna Papell is almost an accessory in its own right, with an allover bead and sequin-embellished mesh, round neckline, semi-sheer yokes + sleeves, and a draped A-line skirt. With a cocktail dress like this, there is no need to go overboard with the accessories with a dress like this! You’d be set with a beautiful headpiece (e.g. bejeweled headband), silver pumps, and a silver clutch. For jewelry, you could at least get away with a bold statement ring!
The Hair
The illustrated version of Cinderella wears her long, flowing locks in an updo to the ball. Her updo is adorned with a sparkly blue headband; whereas the modern-day, Cinderella (Lily James) donned her hair in loose waves that were achieved with dozens of antique hairpins and Swarovski crystals.
The hairstyle is timeless, romantic, and sophisticated, yet the modern-day version may take an arduous of amount of time to achieve. If you want to keep your hairstyle just as elegant and sparkly, yet simple – try a bejeweled headband instead!
The Jewelry
Pandora is known for its sumptuous designs when it comes to jewelry, namely bracelets! In 2015, they first unveiled all of the Disney favorites, including one of my long-time favorite princesses: Cinderella. While they may be festive enough for a party attire like this one, a true Cinderella fan like myself would wear a Cinderella-inspired bracelet by Pandora anytime and anywhere!
The Slippers
The idea of walking in glass slippers sounds like a dream come true. That dream slowly fades once you start thinking more and more about it, especially how uncomfortable that would be! Instead, you can opt for Cinderella-esque heels. Most of these heels look like they’re made of glass, but they’re actually not. Then, there is Jimmy Choo’s Cinderella Collection. Adorned with Swarovski crystals, these Cinderella-inspired heels will set you back at $4,595. Only a woman can dream!
The Clutch
I have always been particularly fond of the art deco clutches. They’re intricately and meticulously designed, with undeniable sophistication. They add the perfect amount of sparkle to your party attire.
