Scotties, notably known for their facial tissues since 1955, kicked off their 4th annual Scotties Tree Rock video contest over the past month. Their annual video contest encourages individuals or groups of children in grades from 3rd – 8th to submit a video about the importance of trees. In each group, the grand prize winner (determined by a national vote) wins $10,000 for their school to use towards a sustainable project. The remaining 10 finalists in both groups doesn’t leave empty-handed either and can walk away with prizes ranging up to $7,000.
The entry period for the Scotties Tree Rock contest has ended and the videos will become available on January 12th, 2015 for you to vote. There’s also still an ample amount of time to enter their essay contest, too. Your child (3rd – 8th grade student) can submit their essay entry by February 6th, 2015 to have a chance to win some wonderful prizes! There will be 30 prize winners total. Each prize winner will receive a $250 gift card and the teacher appointed by the winner at time of entry will receive a $250 gift card.

Trees are beautiful and provide us with oxygen and shade.
Well particularly in our yard, trees provide a lot of shade for our roof line from the hot Texas sun, which I appreciate. The leaves in winter..not so much, LOL!

Trees are important because the produce oxygen, provide habitat for wildlife, help stabilize & hold topsoil, provide shade / help regulate surface temperatures, and because they are fun to climb when you are a kid !
They’re important both for aesthetic reasons since they beautify any space, especially in the city, and for life-sustaining purposes as they help sustain clean air for everyone.
