FOSTER KIDS AND HOMELESS YOUTH continue to be a growing epidemic in this country. With nearly 1.5 million homeless youth and over 600,000 kids in the system. The founder is on a personal mission to be a consistent voice, a speaker that focuses on educating our kids in schools and inspire them to get involved and ultimately strive to make one change at a time.
The founder recently learned of a seventeen year old guy in San Diego who is homeless. He is about to graduate from High School and his dream is to be a chef. Although babychix is not a non-profit company yet, they are working on ways to help this dream happen. His story is fascinating and the perception of a homeless child is not what you think.
These kids look a lot like kids you see everyday. Many go to school but the difference is, they are homeless. They have given up on the “system” and often hear about the youth shelters which is the closet thing they have to a home and family. To protect themselves from being found, they use street names and run in packs. The older kids protecting those that are younger.
It tugged at my heartstrings after reading about this company’s mission, because I love supporting causes that are trying to make a difference in people’s lives.
