I never felt the need to buy a diaper pail with my first child, because I had read that many of them were just an expensive hype. This is mostly due to the fact that the traditional diaper pails are made of plastic. This makes it easier for them to absorb odors, and harder for the smell to go away no matter how vigorously you clean them. Plus, the refills can be costly – not the most budget friendly option during these economic times. The steel diaper pails, such as the one created by Ubbi (pronounced as oo-bee), makes it virtually impossible for odors to penetrate. This is one of several reasons why it is making it’s way on almost every mom-to-be’s registry!

I like that the Ubbi Steel Diaper Pail can be used for disposable diapers and cloth diapers. Therefore, they offer cloth diaper liners and plastic bags, which are just as eco-friendly since they are biodegradable. The plastic bags contain 20% recycled material. They’re also quite sturdy. They can approximately hold 58 newborn diapers, 50 #1 diapers, 41 #2 diapers, 38 #3 diapers, 31 #4 diapers, and 23 #5. The cloth diaper liner is odor resistant, waterproof, and washable. The Ubbi diaper pail is currently the only diaper pail option for cloth diaper users.

Most diaper pails are nothing to write home about in regards of looks, because a lot of them are just Plain Jane. This is why I appreciate Ubbi’s sleek and modern designs. They also offer their diaper pails in multiple colors – White, Light Blue, Hot Pink, Light Pink, Hot Blue, Purple, Gray, and Sand. You can also decorate the diapers pails with their peel and stick decals to compliment your nursery. I opted for the Diaper Pail in Light Pink without the decals, because I still haven’t decided on how I’m going to decorate my daughter’s nursery. I’m heavily considering on an illustrated Alice in Wonderland theme, but I keep getting swayed away with beautiful themes such as the Damask or a Breakfast at Tiffany’s theme.

How to Use the Diaper Pail:

The lock is one of my top favorite features. I have a lovable, yet curious little boy that likes to try to get into things he shouldn’t at times. The safety childproof lock button will hinder him from opening the lid.
