JORD recently unveiled a watch a first of its kind: the mechanically driven wood watch, which features an exposed skeleton movement. Only a limited quantity will ever be produced.

Each JORD watch is designed to be splash proof but is not intended for complete submergence in water. Also note that due to the nature of the wood chosen for each unique timepiece, colors and grain pattern may vary from photos.

Pictures or words hardly does any justice for the 94A SERIES Chocolate Watch ($159; Also Available in Natural Green & Maple), unless you have had the opportunity to see and wear it in person. It is masculine and bold, yet polished enough to wear to work without sacrificing professionalism. The multi-colored, metallic, and splash-proof face is large and sleek with a scratch-proof glass, featuring a Citizen Miyota movement with date. The love is instantaneous at first glance, but its durability and versatility is what makes it more than a fashion-forward timepiece.

Despite it being made of wood, it is surprisingly lightweight and comfortable for the wearer. It only had one drawback in the beginning, but it was minor since it was fixable. The watch was too loose due to its length, yet my husband was able to take out two extra links. If this is the same case for you and you don’t feel comfortable sizing it yourself, you can always take your watch to a local jeweler to have it resized.

In addition to its functionality and meticulous craftsmanship, each JORD watch comes with a 1 year warranty. To maintain this limited warranty, the watch must be operated and maintained in accordance with the care and operation instructions.
