Since 1997, We Take the Cake has been baking South Florida’s favorite gourmet cakes. they craft each cake by hand using only the finest, all-natural ingredients. From custom creations to cupcake, layer cakes, bundt cakes and more.
Their Key Lime Bundt Cake was featured as one of Oprah’s Favorite Things and on the Food Network, CNBC, and in several magazines. This has not gone to their heads, though. They strive on making sure that every single cake, cupcake, or dessert that they bake is as close as perfect as they can make it. Everything little thing is handmade from scratch using fresh eggs, dark products, and imported cocoa powder. They think that the “icing on the cake” is their beautiful signature cake boxes.
I received the 6″ Vegan Chocolate Layer Cake ($47), which came just in time for my husband’s birthday. Vegan doesn’t always mean tasteless and bland, because this cake was scrumptious in every sense of the word. Hardly anyone will notice the difference. However, it does contain soy, and their bakery isn’t dairy and egg free, even though this cake wasn’t created with dairy or eggs.
The cake was small in size, but even the tiniest slice packed a powerful punch since the chocolate frosting was so deeply rich. I’d have taken a picture of the cake, but it wasn’t picture-worthy due to the weather conditions. This is easily understandable since the summer has been hotter than usual, making it extra hard to send products like this and expect to keep it in pristine condition. Other than that, the cake was lovely!
