How to Help Your Baby Adjust to Daylight Saving Time

Adjusting to the DST can be overwhelming. Many parents are concerned about how it will affect their baby’s sleep schedule. Will it wreck havoc on the baby’s sleep schedule? If so, how will they be able to get the baby to adjust? Does this mean that the baby will wake up earlier than usual? These are few of the main concerns of many parents. While they're all valid concerns, just know that the adjustment is short-lived. Thankfully, there are many ways to enable a good night’s sleep for your baby!

The impending arrival of spring is an anticipated event that many greet its renewal with wide, open arms after a long, cold, and dreary winter. It’s hard not to love the season when the trees begin showing signs of life, thick, lush, green grass sprout from the ground; and beautiful, vibrant, fragrant flowers bloom. The renewal and transformation of spring also mean adjusting our clocks an hour ahead.

☽ Try to keep your child up 30 minutes later than usual the day before Daylight Saving Time. This may enable their internal sleep schedule to adjust in a day or two.

☽ According to Touch Research Institutes at the University of Miami School of Medicine, studies indicate that a bedtime massage helps babies sleep better throughout the night.

☽ A sound machine blocks out irritating noises and creates a relaxing atmosphere. For toddlers and young children, you can try using a sleep clock like the Good Nite Lite.

☽ Cloud B has a vast collection of products that will help promote a better night’s sleep. The Twilight Turtle Constellation Night Light has always been a tried and true favorite with the both of my children. It transforms the bedroom into a starry night sky to lull children into a blissful slumber. It features a 45-minute timer to preserve battery life.

☽ A few years ago, Pampers conducted a survey and poll results indicated that 24% mothers felt that the number one reason why their baby slept peacefully and comfortably was because of a dry diaper. Founded in 1961, Pampers ultimate mission is to keep babies dry during the most crucial moments: love, play, and sleep! Diapers like the Pampers Swaddlers and Cruisers feature three absorbent layers, providing up to 12 hours of overnight dryness protection. Just don’t take my word for it.
