Raiding Tracy’s Closet!

I’ve always loved bargain shopping, even as a little girl, because my mother taught me about the value of a dollar early in life. Long as I can remember, I’ve always loved scouring the clearance racks, but I love going to rummage sales and consignment stores most of all, because they’re usually a gold mine for unsuspected surprises. Although I don’t get into labels, I do have a penchant for designer brands such as Black Halo, Betsey Johnson, Bernie Dexter, and Rachel Pally. Their clothes are luxuriously comfortable, sophisticated, and chic. My favorite finds up-to-date are Jessica Simpson Nichola Pumps ($5), Rachel Pally Maxi Dress ($3), Via Spiga Ankle Boots ($3), and Betsy Johnson Cocktail Dress ($10) – all were just like new and found at consignment stores. The last three usually run in the triple digits.

Meet Tracey’s Closet, a community that is currently in early beta, yet is quickly garnering the attention of fashion-minded individuals who are wanting to use their closet to fund their fashion. Their goal is to build an inventory through fashion-minded women. The more people that joins their site and list things they would like to sell, the bigger the inventory will become! In fact, you instantly get 500 points for joining and earn 100 points for each friend that signs up. Once you have accumulated enough points, you can spend the points on the item(s) you want in your closet. Shipping is free, too! Tracy’s Closet will send a pre-paid package to the seller to place the item(s) in to send to you.

When listing items to sell, you instantly get points. Once the item sells, you will get even more points. The points vary, depending on how much you paid for the item (they’ll ask you this along with a few other details). So far, I’ve sold a pair of Coach “Lani” Mules Clogs that were lingering in my closet. I’ve also bought a few items with the points that I have accumulated. I haven’t received the items yet, but I’m looking forward to receiving them, especially the Material Girl “Marcel” Platform Pumps and G by Guess Coral Blazer!

What sets Tracy’s Closet from the rest is that they have a points system for purchases. You earn these points by joining (an automatic 500 points), uploading items to sell, inviting friends, and checking in on a daily basis. There are no seller fees.
