Making a Big Impact with Small Changes

Almost everyone has a dream of some sort, whether they’re rich, middle class, poor, young or old. However, a dream usually isn’t going to be fulfilled if we don’t take the time and effort to help it occur. Let’s say one of your dreams is to bask underneath the sun in Bali, yet money burns a hole in your pocket every time you get a paycheck. Chances are you’re not going to be going to your dream vacation anytime soon, but you can make small changes in your spending habits by saving some to get to your destination, even if takes 5 months or 5 years.

Making small changes in other areas of our lives can cause a huge and positive impact, such as setting the alarm to wake up earlier than the children to have some me-time (i.e. reading a book, catching up on a favorite TV show on DVR, or exercising), creating meal plans, printing out a budget list to keep track of expenses (i.e. groceries, gas, bills, etc.), giving to those who are less fortunate, the list is endless! Most of the time, some people want to blame others for their downfalls. It all boils down to these: if you want to make a change, it starts within yourself. You can’t wait and sit around for changes to magically occur. Otherwise, more likely than not, you will sorely be disappointed!

Known as one of the most efficient companies, Toyota collaborated with Food Bank for New York to launch a program called Meals Per Hour to bring food to those who were impacted by Superstorm Sandy. Proving that small changes can have a huge impact, they went from 25 to 450 emergency meal boxes per hour, totaling to 250,000 meals!

Watch Supermarché documentary to see what changes Toyota made and why these changes matter. Toyota will also donate one meal to Food Bank For New York City, up to 1,000,000 meals by July 19, for each video view.
