The Ohio CycleWorks bike team, sponsored by FedEx Custom Critical, is participating in this year’s Race Across America (RAAM). Known as the “World’s Toughest Bicycle Race,” RAAM is one of the longest running sporting events in the world. They are raising money for the Akron Children’s Hospital, which is the biggest pediatric healthcare provider in northeast Ohio, and is known as the Best Children’s Hospital. FedEx Custom Critical is also happy to be a proud supporter of the Akron Children’s Hospital and the Ohio CycleWorks team. I highly support notable causes, such as this one, so I commend them for their charitable efforts in saving childrens’ lives. To date, they have already raised $90,900. You can give them an extra push by donating at this page, in which you’ll also learn more about Ohio CycleWorks Charities.
I haven’t followed this race in the previous years, but I can now on their Tumblr page at http://www.senseaware.tumblr.com. The Ohio CycleWorks team features one of their team members, Scott Garchar (board member of Ohio CycleWorks Charities). Click here to embark on their journey, which started on June 16th in Oceanside, California and ends in Annapolis, Maryland between June 21st – June 25th.
They’re using a comprehensive tracking and monitoring device to travel with them throughout the race, SenseAware®, which is powered by FedEx. This device is linked to the web-based platform, providing near real-time GPS location and environmental conditions.
– SenseAware® powered by FedEx, a comprehensive tracking and monitoring service integrated with a powerful web-based application, provides real-time data about customer shipments. Customers can stay connected to their shipments by viewing vital statistics such as current location, temperature, barometric pressure, relative humidity and light sensitivity.
– Sense Aware service is available to customers in all industries such as healthcare and life sciences, aerospace, the arts, financial institutions and more — who can benefit from this added level of visibility and monitoring. The service is especially valuable for companies who ship high-value, highly sensitive products.
